What is a Gulet?
Gulet is a frequently used boat for navigating the turquoise waters of Turkey. Boats are usually around 35 meters long and have six cabins and a crew of three or four. Gulet is perfect for families or groups of friends who want to enjoy their vacation and spend some time at sea!
Gulet Boat Features
Gulet is a traditional wooden sailing boat with a spruce hull, traditionally nail-free, built with strong wooden connections and a large mainsail on the main mast. A smaller sail is placed at the front of the boat, but also a genoa sail is used at the stern. Sails are usually four or five meters high, and gaffs are fitted for extra stability when cruising downwind.
Gulets were originally designed for both fishing and trading, but are now used for recreational purposes only.
Cabins that can sleep from two to twelve people depending on the size of the gulet boats; toilets; showers; kitchens; living rooms/bars; dining rooms/cabins etc. There is also plenty of deck space and sundecks on the boat.
Onboard features include private decks around each cabin area that lead to outdoor dining areas where you can dine while watching the boats pass. Some current engine sizes include 2x150HP engines and reach a maximum speed of 12 knots per hour while traveling.
